Basildon town centre is set for massive redevelopment and investment. A strategic development partner is being sought to deliver Basildon town centre's £1 billion regeneration that will see more shops, more offices, 3,650 new homes, redevelopment of the railway area to create a bus, rail and taxi interchange and more buildings and public squares of the highest quality.

Over £2million has been invested over the last 2 years with an exciting new lighting scheme and a revamp of St Martin's Square the main features of the investment.  The government funding has also enabled the return of the town clock to the town centre and the restoration of the Mother and Child fountain, two major icons of the town.
