Quality Housing

It is vital that Basildon has the right housing to meet future economic demands. A strategic review of housing has been undertaken to identify the type, mix and tenure required to help support the economic objectives whilst always catering for the needs of the existing population.

For more information on the Strategic Housing Review, please contact Simon Hughes on 01268 294780 or email simon.hughes@basildon.gov.uk.

This is alongside the major redevelopment at Craylands and Fryerns. This project is being led by English Partnerships, and will see the remodelling of the Craylands estate and redevelopment of the former Fryerns School site into a new sustainable community. The area of the former school site amounts to some 11.2 ha of land and has capacity for 700 new homes. The Department for Communities and Local Government has invested over £20 million into this project, and construction is due to begin in 2007. Significant investment has also been placed in the Five Links estate. Phase 1 was completed in 2002, phase 2 in 2006 and phase 3 is in the master planning stage.

Sorry, there are no regeneration projects yet...
