BASILDON sign granted planning permission

A new landmark ‘BASILDON' sign will be installed on the Noak Bridge A127/A176 junction after it received planning permission.

Work on the new sign and the rest of the works is due to be completed by the end of March.

The £400,000 project is being funded from a £700,000 grant from the Thames Gateway programme and will see new road signs, entrance signs to the District and a lettered BASILDON sign that will help identify Basildon along this key route, and improve the access to a number of industrial areas.

In a further boost to the local economy, the majority of the signs will be manufactured in Basildon.

Ace Sign Group (ASG) based in Bentalls, Basildon have been contracted to work on the BASILDON sign, and three Basildon enterprise park signs.

Twenty-two new highway signs and the two entrance signs to the District will be manufactured by Kaspa signs who are based in Christy Way, Southfield Business Park.

And John Anthony Signs, based at Claydons Lane, Rayleigh are manufacturing around 150 lighting sheaths that will stretch along the A127 within the District.

Cllr Stephen Horgan, deputy leader of the Council, says:  "It is vital that the public sector continues to invest in regeneration and the environment.  Our businesses, and the A127 Corridor is our economic backbone, and this direct investment over the next year will address many of the key concerns that companies have expressed to us in the past.

"I look forward to seeing this landmark sign installed."

Notes:

Model Signs of Ipswich are the overall lead/main contractor on signage and have produced the detailed designs.  They have sub-contracted the works out to the local companies.
