Ranking in the top 35 most competitive business location in the UK, Basildon District is strongly positioned within the Thames Gateway. This will be strengthened nationally with further development of its business environment. Driving Basildon District forward in its role as an economic powerhouse is key to the future.
Plans are being prepared to transform Basildon’s commercial areas. The A127 Enterprise Corridor running for three miles along the main artery into the District will be subject to a detailed master plan and investment programme. These plans will identify the development opportunities, and ensure that Basildon grows as an inward investment and employment location.
The Corridor is already home to over 40,000 jobs, 8,000 businesses and mult-national companies such as Ford Motor Company, Visteon, Selex Systems, Case New Holland and IFDS. The District has also been boosted by the recent news that RBS are moving their headquarter staff to the area from Southend.
