Strategic Board objectives:
- To bring together the key partners, working together for the common good of Basildon
- Collective responsibility for the regeneration of Basildon District including the preparation of the Regeneration Framework and master plans for strategic projects
- To commission regeneration projects and associated work from partners, including securing funding, and to monitor these projects
- To identify and seek to resolve the problems linked to regeneration
- To agree respective partners commitment to regeneration projects and agree upon the most appropriate ways to support regeneration
- To input into national, regional and Thames Gateway policy
The partnership also plays a key role in:
- Getting agreement between partners about the type, size and quality of regeneration in Basildon and helping to secure the resources to achieve this vision
- Integrating individual projects led by partners to achieve the agreed vision for Basildon
- Contributing towards achieving the Regional Spatial Strategy target of 10,700 new homes by 2021
- Supporting the creation of 11,000 new jobs by 2021
- Maintaining the existing employment base
- Regenerating town centres and business areas to improve them and increase competitiveness
- Getting investment in community facilities and the environment that improve the quality of life in Basildon and ensuring that sporting and cultural facilities are included in regeneration plans
- Ensuring that all projects contribute towards sustainable development
